A Word On Nutrition (AWON) specializes in performance nutrition consultancy. Our mission is to make the science simple, the advice practical and the knowledge bespoke to you. We believe this is the best strategy for long-term behaviour change that enables you to optimize your health, wellbeing and performance.
We live in the world of high performance and food is our passion. The link between nutrition and health and wellbeing is ever increasingly recognised as a key factor in performance. Whether you are training for a marathon or trying to enhance productivity in the workplace, we have the solution to you gaining the competitive edge.
Drawing on our wealth of experience in performance sport and the corporate wellness environment, we are expert in delivering an evidence-based approach targeted at breaking down barriers, challenging mindset and raising self-awareness, with the aim of implementing effective eating strategies that are sustainable and successful.
Our philosophy is underpinned by 4 key pillars:
Endurance competitor Nick and Olympic Bronze medalist Hannah founded AWON in 2012. Together, they have combined their insight from elite sport, performance environments and leading brands with a practical background in nutrition to develop and deliver a range of consultancy services and packages.
AWON now works with individuals, athletes, teams, corporate organizations, charities and brands to deliver bespoke performance nutrition consultancy services.
Nick is currently the Performance Nutritionist with Hull FC and Newcastle Falcons, as well as Head of Sport Science at the Soto Tennis Academy. Nick also advises those who are running the Brighton Marathon and completing events with Breast Cancer Care through their partnerships with A Word on Nutrition.
Hannah leads the nutrition team at AWON. She is a current Great Britain hockey player and provides nutrition consultancy to Soto Tennis Academy, England athletics and England Netball through the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme, and leads AWON’s corporate wellness projects. Hannah has a PhD in Environmental Physiology and completed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Diploma in Sport and Exercise Nutrition.
