How can protein at breakfast help your weight management?

A slice of toast with butter or jam and a cup of coffee in the morning may provide you with some much needed energy and a bit of a stimulus to get you on your way to work but it falls well short of meeting your protein needs.

It is well established now that eating breakfast is beneficial for weight management. It can reduce feelings of hunger and reduce the desire to overeat later in the day. However, consuming a higher amount of protein at breakfast may further assist these benefits.

Recent research has shown that a breakfast consisting of sausage and egg versus a breakfast containing the same number of calories but less protein, pancakes and syrup, improved feelings of fullness throughout the morning. A high protein breakfast also resulted in subjects consuming fewer calories at lunch.
